After the Grand Opening of The Art Lounge in May 2022, The Listening Sessions began its inaugural season later that year with a lineup of 9 monthly sold-out performances. The shows became an instant hit in the RGV, featuring a diverse lineup of guest musicians performing with Jenuine Cello, SPI’s ‘cellist-in-residence.’

The goal: to curate a unique series of collaborative performances tailored to bring the silent acoustic space to life. SPI needed a ‘Listening Room’, and The Art Lounge rose to the occsion to become our designated home space. The vibrant walls of the art gallery provide the ideal visual backdrop for the music, all while the audience basks in the magic ‘living room’ warmth of the space.

Now in its 4th Season, The Listening Sessions has hosted guest musicians from across the US, Mexico and Europe to share The Art Lounge Stage with Ms. Mulhern, resulting in a series of unique, diverse collaborations in front of a live silent audience. The result has been and WILL continue to be both magical and surreal, a true sharing of musical moments in a sacred space.

‘The Listening Sessions on SPI’ continues for its 4th season beginning September 2025 with a run of 10 performances through May 2026 at The Art Lounge! All events in the concert series will include music curated and performed by Jenuine Cello, featuring a variety (and we mean VARIETY!) of guest musicians whose performances are best enjoyed in this amazing silent space. Our intent is to bring together quality musicians, performers and music lovers who seek a distraction-free concert experience.
